19. Who else uses the PRS™-probe technology?
Researchers use the PRS™-probe technology frequently. The utility of the PRS™-probes have supported their use worldwide in a number of different research scenarios ranging from measuring nutrient turnover following manure amendments to a surrogate measure of earthworm toxicity in heavy metal-contaminated soil. The utility of the PRS™-probes is well established and has been detailed in over 40-refereed scientific papers and 42 post-graduate theses to date. Listed below are some of the historical uses of the PRS™-probes.
- Agriculture - Fertilizer, manure, and compost amendments involving a wide range of annual and perennial crops, as well as pasture systems.
- Forestry - LTSP sites, harvesting and site preparation effects, disturbance regimes, interspecific competition, ‘undisturbed’ vs. disturbed sites.
- Ecology - Grassland ecosystem studies including: fire and grazing disturbances, and biological control agent effects on plant species richness and diversity.
- Environmental - Heavy metal toxicity; salinity; nutrients in spring meltwaters.
- Turf Grass - Soluble and slow-release fertilizer amendments.
